Feeding the Homeless

As part of our church’s community outreach, we have been involved with the local community’s coordinated efforts to aid many of the homeless families who have recently come to our area to escape the poverty and crime in their home countries.  We have delivered carloads of winter clothing and footwear and provided a weekend hot breakfast both at the church and delivered to one of the many community shelter sites.

On March 13, a team of us delivered two huge pots of Pozole, a rich soup distinguished by its hominy and peppers, topped with fresh vegetables like cabbage, radishes, cilantro, avocado and fresh lime juice squeezed on top.  The meal was gratefully received!

We’ve also opened up some space at our church on Sabbath mornings for Spanish speaking Bible study and prayer. The attendees are welcome to join the rest of the congregation during our mid-morning Tea Time in the church lobby, as well as at our vegetarian potluck lunches on the first and third Sabbath’s of the month.
