The stack of 8” Hardie Plank concrete fiber board resting on the corner of our church parking lot represents the continuing story of neighbors helping each other out in this community.
John Hall, Construction Project Superintendent at Poster Construction, and a member of our church, observed that there was going to be some leftover siding at a construction job site. As our head elder, John was aware of the need to replace the deteriorating siding on the south wall of the church. So, he asked the job superintendent and the owners if they would consider the possibility of donating the extra materials to our church. “YES!” was the very kind answer.
In the months ahead, passers-by will soon be watching our church members work on removing the old siding and putting up the new very durable material. We’ll also be repairing the roof which was damaged from the heavy winter snows.
As we continue our year-round ministry of housing people in need of a night or two of emergency shelter in collaboration with several local nonprofits, we are glad that we’ll be able to keep the building in safe condition. We have also benefitted from other donations of other building materials from various construction projects in the area and used them for interior maintenance and improvements.
“The kindnesses of people throughout the Wood River Valley which we receive makes it easier for us to offer shelter and meals to many others in times of need,” Hall observed
